Dear Homegrown Yogis,

I always call my husband as I am driving back to Macon after teaching.  He jokes that I am only calling because I’m bored and have nothing to do in the car.  Although there might be a tiny bit of truth to that, I love talking to him after teaching because it’s a time that I feel inspired, grounded and alive.   I absolutely love teaching yoga – the sound of everyone’s breath moving together, the sight of people feeling good in their bodies, and yes- even the smell of the room after a Hot Power class!

On a post-class call a few months ago, my husband said I sounded especially happy.  I told him that I am just so grateful that I get to teach yoga for a living – it is still crazy to me that teaching yoga is my job.  And what’s even crazier I told him is that teaching yoga to my best friends is my job.   As soon as the words left my mouth, he told me that I should post that on the Homegrown facebook page.  I told him that would be silly and totally dismissed the idea.

As November approached, though, I came to realize that maybe it’s not such a silly idea after all.  Thanksgiving has always been one of my absolute favorite days of the year.  Partially because of the food (can’t lie about that!) but also because it’s a day we are invited to think about and express our gratitude.  As William Arthur Ward wrote, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

So my letter this month is a thank you note to all of you.   I am grateful that you come to Homegrown Yoga and practice yoga with us.  I am grateful that you support and help build our community.  I am grateful that you share your life with us.  I am grateful for your support.  I am grateful for your friendship.

This month at Homegrown Yoga is all about celebrating you and all the amazing people and animals in our lives!  Check out what we have going on because there is a lot happening – it’s just a small way for us to say thank you!

With love,

Rachel
